The year of 2014 OSTOED Development Manager Arlene Catches the Enemy was successfully awarded a short term planning grant–reinstating funding from the United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration-this avenue of funding had been terminated from our tribe for (20) years.The Oglala Sioux Tribe of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is the legal name attached to this grant. The Oglala Sioux Tribe Office of Economic Development (OSTOED) is the only OST program allowed under Region#8 Economic Development Administration to be responsible for developing, revising, or replacing future CEDS plans. The working CEDS Committee represents the main economic interests of the region, and includes Private Sector Representatives (defined in 13 C.F.R. § 300.3, with respect to any for-profit enterprise, as any senior management official or executive holding a key decision making position, or that person’s designee) as a majority of its membership. In addition, the OSTOED has ensured that the CEDS Committee also includes public officials, community leaders, representatives of community development boards, representatives of institutions of higher education, minority and labor groups, and private individuals. Current CEDS working group members are represented from the OST Presidents office, the OST Executive Directors office, Advisory OST Council Representative, EBD Committee, & OSTOED Director.
